JOGLE Blog-Mar’21 Mar 31 Written By Maul Together Our Maul Together challenge for March was - “Time in the saddle”! A challenge to do 500 miles in a month! That didn’t sound like too much considering our JOGLE is 956 miles in 9 days but when you take into account a few of us were only doing little 20-30 mile routes - it would took a fair amount of work to complete! Ed FINALLY gets his bike! Delivered all the way from MALLORCA! UK bikes are obviously not good enough for Ed! After it getting stuck in customs, it’s finally landed and Ed’s taken it for its first spin in the countryside with Emily! During all of the difficult and time consuming training - it is important to keep thinking about what we are doing it all for. All of us at Maul Together are determined to raise as much money as possible for our selected charities My Name’5 Doddie Foundation & Matt Hampson Foundation who both do amazing work supporting those with life changing illness & injuries! Elliot and Gareth have been getting some miles in during the week and their normal loop has this lovely stretch with the Brown Clee in the distance. Gareth managed to capture this great shot of Brooksy on a lovely day! The photo of the challenge so far! Cal had put on a “little” weight over last years lockdowns but WOW he has now smashed the training so far alongside a diet to lose nearly 2 stone in under 2 months!!!! Cycling in London isn’t so bad when you get views like this! Nice ride out for Ed & Emily! The downfalls of cycling - Punctures!!!!It also doesn’t help when we don’t really know how to change tubes and it takes 45 minutes in the cold!!!! At least we are getting some practice in now before JOGLE! We finally got a few days of amazing weather to enjoy torwards the end of March. Sadly it only lasted 3 days and then back to single figure temperatures! At the end of the month all of the guys had put in a massive effort to get as many miles in as possible. Special mention to Cal and Dan! Cal smashed it on the road doing 626 miles and Dan managing 704 in total with the helping hand of the Watt Bike!Onto the next challenge - Climbing Everest!!
